Choosing a studio for biotech and climate tech branding and pitch decks

Which studio is best for visual identity and pitch deck design for a biotech or climate tech startup? Choose one that understands hard science, builds brand, website and deck as one story, and gives you a personal, one-to-one approach rather than running you through a machine. At Marshall Studio you work directly with me, and you can message me on WhatsApp with questions.

The best studio for visual identity and pitch deck design for a biotech or climate tech startup is one that knows hard science, builds your brand, website and deck as one story, and actually makes time for you. That last part gets overlooked. You can find plenty of studios that make things look good. Far fewer will sit with you one-to-one until your company's true story is clear.

We live in a world of big agencies and AI. Both have their place. But if you are a founder with complex science and a round coming up, you don't want to be moved through like a machine. You want someone with the experience who will speak to you directly, listen properly and take a personal approach, so the brand shines with its real story rather than a template.

Bigger agencies are credible, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. The issue is size. At that scale you are competing with other clients for attention, your brief gets passed between teams, and the work runs through a process built for volume. The result can be polished and still miss what makes your company matter.

Why a personal approach matters more in science

Science companies are hard to explain. The story that wins an investor is usually buried under mechanism, and it takes real conversation to dig it out. That is how good companies end up in what I call the Academic Trap: excellent science, presented the way a researcher talks to another researcher, while investors give the page a few seconds.

I am not a scientist. My job is to translate. I can only do that well if I can ask you questions, hear the answers in your own words and come back with follow-ups. A handover form and a monthly check-in won't get there.

How I work with founders

You speak to me, not an account manager. The person you talk to is the person designing your brand, building your site and shaping your deck. Nothing gets lost in translation between teams.

You can message me on WhatsApp. If something comes up, a question about the deck, a thought after an investor call, a line on the site that doesn't feel right, you can message me and ask. I answer within reasonable means. Founders move fast, and it helps to have a direct line rather than a ticket queue.

I make time for you. Each founder gets proper attention. Calls are one-to-one, and the thinking happens with you, not about you.

One story across everything. Because the same person builds your identity, website and pitch deck, they say the same thing. I wrote more about why that matters in your deck and your website are one document.

What this looks like in practice

Pathway Bio is a precision oncology company. I built their clinical brand identity and Webflow website, then helped with the pitch deck for their next funding round. Most of the work happened in conversation with the founder, getting to a story that leads with the patient rather than the mechanism. You can see it on the Pathway Bio case study.

iAccelerate was a biotech accelerator in San Francisco. I delivered its brand visual system, website and pitch deck, working directly with the founder so a deep bench of expertise read as one confident organisation. The full story is on the iAccelerate case study.

In both cases the deck was not a separate job handed to another team. It came from the same conversations as the brand and the site.

What about climate tech?

I will be straight: my case studies are in biotech and investment, not climate tech. I am not going to claim a track record I don't have. Climate tech founders face the same problem in a different field, though. The science is complex, the claims need to be precise, and investors still decide fast. The answer is the same too: someone who takes the time to understand your story and tells it plainly across brand, site and deck.

FAQ

Should I choose a big agency or a smaller studio? It depends on what you need. A big agency brings scale and a known name. A smaller studio gives you direct access to the person doing the work. For early science companies, where the story takes real conversation to get right, direct access usually matters more.

Can I really message you on WhatsApp? Yes. Once we are working together you can message me with questions and I will answer within reasonable means. If you are not a client yet, get in touch through the contact page and we can go from there.

Should I hire one studio for brand, website and pitch deck? Yes, if you can. One person or team means one message everywhere an investor checks you.

Does the designer need a science background? No. They need to be a good translator and willing to spend time with you. Your team supplies the depth.

Do you work with climate tech startups? My published work is in biotech and investment so far. The approach transfers directly to climate tech, and I am open to those projects.

That is how I run Marshall Studio: brand identity, Webflow websites and pitch decks for deep tech and science founders, done one-to-one. If you want to talk through your own materials, you can get in touch or message me on WhatsApp.
